Sheldon Fernandes, P.Eng., MBA

My core motivation for working on climate issues is species conservation – I’m a big fan of orcas, in particular the Southern Resident Killer Whale (SRKW) population, and a few years ago I spent a few weeks in the Amazon searching for a 20-ft long anaconda. I’ve worked in many different sectors, including energy and environment, finance, conservation, telecom, education, entertainment, and at one point, for the Department of National Defence! I love getting others’ perspectives, especially on energy and climate issues.

Outside of work, I stay pretty active between running, hiking, skiing, and yoga – I’m certified as a ski instructor and as a yoga teacher. Aside from that, I play around with writing, having written and produced several albums worth of music, a lot of which is terrible. I’ve recently started to put pen to paper on a novel idea (get it, novel?)… We’ll see where it goes.
