Jeanna Brown, P.Eng.
I have over 15 years of experience in the energy industry, the majority of which I spent working as a Drilling Engineer in the upstream oil and gas sector before joining Brightspot. During that time, I worked on projects in the Middle East and the North Sea, as well as in western Canada. I also spent two years living and working in Yemen on a rotational basis, followed by a move to Norway for an assignment there. I recently completed serving a three-year term on the Board of Directors for the Society of Petroleum Engineers Canada (SPE), where I enjoyed the opportunity to engage with members while building valuable experience in Board governance.
Outside of work I enjoy a number of active outdoor pursuits. Over the past few summers my husband and I have done some fabulous multi-day wilderness adventures in our canoe, which have included weeklong trips on the Yukon River, the Bowron Lakes circuit in BC and the Churchill River in northern Saskatchewan. I also love skiing and have recently become a volunteer instructor with the Canadian Adaptive Snowsports program (CADS). During the winter season, I share my passion for snow sports by helping skiers with limited mobility learn how to ski using a “sit-ski”.
My husband and I are passionate about food – growing, sourcing, preparing and eating! The majority of the food we eat is locally harvested – veggies we grow ourselves, wild game meat harvested by my hunter-husband, and the balance sourced from local growers as much as possible. We make our own sausages, kefir and we make and dehydrate our own meals for our wilderness adventures. We love cooking and experimenting with new recipes.
