Deepika Mahadevan, P.Eng.
I have close to a decade of experience with greenhouse gas emissions quantification, analysis and auditing for industrial facilities and emissions offsets projects in North America, including assisting with the development and management of an accredited Verification Management System at ICF International, where I first started my career in Energy and Climate. My journey into this field of work was sparked at a young age growing up in 4 different continents before I moved to Canada at the age of 13. Every country I lived in had a different climate and I would catch myself in awe of the biodiversity and richness of it all, being a poet at heart, I would often pen these moments in words. This is also why I am passionate about the impacts of climate change and human activity on our most vulnerable and endangered species – could also explain the tattoos of several endangered species on my right forearm; a reminder to not take our everyday actions and the choices we make, for granted!
Prior to joining Brightspot, I took a long break from my Engineering career to pursue my other multitude of interests - travelling to South East Asia, doing a 2 year Yoga Teacher training program in India, writing more poetry, networking with artists around the world (I also happen to be a professionally trained vocalist), singing and writing for Indian cinema and performing at live events and for TV! Now I spend my time outside work still writing new music, exploring music collaborations, singing at gigs, vocal coaching, spending time outdoors, working out, taking dance classes, scheming up content for social media and so much more!
